The Forum will be a one-day, intensive workshop devoted to emerging scholarship in law and political economy. Selected junior scholars will present original works in progress to a small cohort. Each paper will receive focused commentary from a senior scholar, followed by discussion among all Forum participants. There will be no concurrent sessions.

Eligibility

The Forum welcomes applications from scholars who currently hold a pre-tenure, tenure-track faculty appointment in any discipline related to law and political economy. Applicants may be based in law schools or other relevant academic departments. We especially encourage applications from scholars historically underrepresented in academia and those with limited institutional research support.

Scope and workshop format

We seek projects examining how law constitutes, structures, and responds to political and economic power. We have no particular methodological or substantive focus and welcome interventions that are theoretical, historical, empirical, or doctrinal in nature. Interdisciplinary and critical approaches are especially welcome.

Works in progress should be developed enough to sustain close discussion but still capable of benefiting from substantial feedback. Selected scholars must attend the full Forum in person and submit a complete draft by June 15, 2027. Authors will briefly introduce their projects; most session time will be reserved for senior commentary and collective discussion.

Travel support

The Forum will provide selected junior scholars with reasonable economy travel, up to two nights of hotel accommodations, and meals associated with the event. Disability-related accommodations and dietary needs will also be accommodated.

How to apply

Complete the online application by 11:59 p.m. eastern on January 15, 2027.
